Anti-Diet, Weight-Inclusive Dietitian & 2022 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year in Oklahoma

The first time I considered nutrition as a career was during my junior year of high school. While at my best friends’ house, I sat across the kitchen table from their grandmother, a retired Registered Dietitian named Pauline.

I was fascinated by the stories Pauline shared with me about mixing baby formula for neonatal units in the 1940s. She always chuckled at the reemergence of fad diets from Atkins to juicing. She told me the most important question a dietitian can ever ask is, “where’s the evidence?”  After taking my first nutrition class freshman year of college, I knew I wanted to be a dietitian, but my university didn’t offer the major or the guidance to get there. So, I earned my degree in business marketing and spent the next few years working the corporate grind while feeling like I missed my calling. During this time, I battled with disordered eating and fell for the fads from SlimFast, diet pills, skinny wraps, Weight Watchers, MyFitnessPal to avoiding food groups and, yes, even Arbonne.  I believed my appearance was tied to my value and worth and that a thin body was the only road to health and happiness. I reached my breaking point when I hit my “goal weight” and realized my behaviors to get there (and stay there) were anything but healthy. I now know health is so much more than WHAT you eat. I decided to return to school to pursue my dream of becoming a dietitian.

I’m a Licensed and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, former fad dieter, and your new friend on your journey to food peace. I earned my Master’s in Nutrition and Food Science from The University of Central Oklahoma. I love helping my clients rediscover what health means for them because health looks different to everybody. I help my clients gain confidence through evidence-based practices so they can make choices without shame or guilt.

With my combined 8+ years of experience in community nutrition, international development, food management, and clinical nutrition, I now work with individuals & families from diverse backgrounds who are ready to regain their health and lives by discovering food freedom through evidence-based Intuitive Eating approaches.
